1942 Marx, No. 3987 "Streamlined Electric Train Set" in Original Box
Outstanding high grade Streamlined Electric Train Set by Marx. Excellent overall. Locomotive was tested and works great! Includes the following: Locomotive No. 3000 (unmarked)- 8½", black cab & boiler, silver and black sideboards, single dome, tear dropped shaped smokestack with red celluloid insert, tinned boiler front, yellow glass headlight, black die cast spoke drivers. Excellent+ condition. Built in 1939. Clean, no rust and works great! Tender No. 951 (unmarked) - 6", gloss black, wedge shaped, metal wheels, embossed coal pile, marked "New York Central", "Marlines" and Marx trademark. Excellent+ with scattered rim wear and an occasional nick on some of the embossing. No rust. Built in 1942. Gondola No 552 - 6", marked Rock Island C.R.I.&P. (Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific), red/black interior, green/red exterior with yellow writing, metal wheels. Excellent with some crazing on the frame sides. c.1941 Stock Car No.59 - 6", marked Union Pacific with steer head, tuscan brown w/wood litho stockade fence, slotted doors, Marx logo on ends, metal wheels. Excellent with faint nicks & single small scratch around roof edges. No rust. c.1942 Tank Car No.553 - 6", marked Santa Fe Middle States Oil, silver shell, red insignia, plated end caps and flat dome, metal wheels. Excellent w/couple tiny scrapes near dome & around dome. Some plating remains. No rust. c.1941. Caboose No. 556 - 6", marked New York Central Lines, Marx logo, red roof & cupola, rear railing with ladder, 3 side windows, ends have die cut round windows and square door, metal wheels. Excellent with tiny spots of wear on the corners of cupola and roof edges. No rust. c.1940. Transformer No.709 7-13 watts, black steel case, 2 posts, red vertical rheostat, gold decal on top. With track connector and original wiring. Excellent with paint scratch under rheostat, misc. rubs and nicks. No rust. Track - 2 straights, 8 curves, total length 7½ ft. All clean, complete with all posts. No rail rust. Box 17" x 11" x 3½" - complete with top, bottom and all inserts. All intact. Faded blue print with set number clearly stamped on one end. Solid and square overall. Some taping on the box cover front and rear panel edges. No tears, dents, perforations, or repairs.Excellent overall. Original 4 page 8½" x 11" booklet-form instructions are complete with edge foxing, crinkling, and almost no tears (just tiny nicks). Original packing slip. Size: see above Sold: May, 2015
